BEHIND THE LENS

​

As a young boy, I was on the oval track at Worcester with an Instamatic camera and tried to capture the terns on film. Great was the disappointment when I went to get the out of focus photos at the pharmacy.

 

So over the years I did camera upgrades, started taking photos of my girlfriends, and started experimenting in nature with photography.

 

In 2006, I was asked by a newspaper reporter to write a story for her about a 4x4 event, where the writing bug bit me. Hundreds of motorsport articles have appeared in local as well as national newspapers and magazines of which I was the author. I had to take my own photos everywhere and so the photographer was born in me.

 

I took 2 short photography courses to learn everything correctly. In 2014, I turned my lens on my first wedding, and with the second wedding photos I took, I won SA Wedding’s Bride of the Year.

 

Also in 2014 I was named George Motor club's Sportsman of the year for my photography. In the same year, I won the Eden Sport Board's Sport Photographer of the Year. At the end of 2014 participated in the WP Sport Counsel, Sport Photographer of the year and came second.

 

In 2015 I was accredited with Motorsport SA as a photographer and focused on the oval track and taking the Simola Knysna Heuwelren photos.

 

In 2015 during the National 4x4 event in Bloemfontein I also won the Sports Photo of the Day.

 

My sports photos are regularly published in the media in the Southern Cape.

 

I am currently accredited as a Rugby photographer at SWD Eagles Rugby.
